CBD has all sorts of benefits, and pain relief is definitely a huge one. CBD has been used for all kind of ailments, symptoms, beauty routines, and treatments, but nothing is perhaps as monumental as changing the pain relief game.

Whether you battle with chronic pain on a day to day basis, or you suffer the aches and pains of ballin’ too hard or just getting older, we are all used to a little back pain here or knee pain there. That means we all can benefit from products that can actually make a difference.

CBD works by affecting the endocannabinoid system, which has two receptors, CB1 and CB2. Primarily, when someone uses a product like CBD, it affects the CB2 receptor positively and can lead to not only pain relief, but a wealth of other benefits. These can include how you sleep, how you focus, sharpening your memory, regulating your nervous system, and many more.

CBD for Pain Relief

There are a wild variety of ways to consume CBD products, but using them topically is a very popular method of pain relief. If you are trying to target a specific area then CBD is known for being great at dealing with that.

The CBD School is an incredible resource for learning more about topical applications of CBD products. The recipes we share below were found here and you can click through to learn more about the recipes and how best to execute them.

Be sure to note that there is a difference between the different types, including creams, salves, and lotions. The difference is actually easy enough to quantify, the amount of water you use. This determines the thickness of your final product. So, you can adapt any recipe, or use one of the other recipes in the article to make something that is better suited for what exactly you need.

The article also mentions a wide variety of uses for CBD creams — not only for pain relief but for beauty and skin care purposes as well. There are a wealth of uses and health benefits for CBD, so why not use them all? Get the most bang for your buck.

Recipe: CBD Infused Salve

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup an oil you like
  • 1 ounce of Beeswax
  • 3000 mg of CBD oil
  • Essential oils of your preference (optional)

Directions:

  1. Heat both the beeswax and oil together until the beeswax melts and stir it fully.
  2. Then you may put in the CBD oil or separate it and let it boil over low heat until it all flows together.
  3. Remove the product from the heat so that it can cool.
  4. If you would like to add essential oils then let your salve cool, though not to the point that it becomes solid. When it is cooled you can then add any of the essential oils you want.
  5. Once all ingredients are mixed together, put the salve in a container, and we recommend a jar made of glass with a lid that can screw tightly on.

Recipe: CBD Infused Lotion

Ingredients:

  • ¾ Cup of Water
  • ¼ Cup of oil you like
  • 0.5-1 ounce of Beeswax
  • 3000mg CBD oil or 3 grams CBD Isolate
  • Essential oils of your preference (optional)

Directions:

  1. Heat both the beeswax and oil together until the beeswax melts and stir it fully.
  2. Then you may put in the CBD oil or separate it and simmer over low heat until it all flows together.
  3. Let it cool so you can add essential oils that you want to help with the smell.
  4. While it is still warm add water slowly until your lotion is as thick as you desire it.
  5. Pour into a storage container. A glass jar with a lid that fits tightly really will work the greatest. This lotion isn’t the kind that comes out of a dispenser so you would be better off scooping from a jar with your fingers.

It’s honestly up to personal preference and how it will feel on your skin.

What else can I make?

Want something more than just a general pain-relief cream? Using essential oils and other ingredients, you can separate your cream into different portions and make specific use creams. There are so many options out there that you can explore. Don’t believe us? Keep reading:

  • For quick arthritis relief, mix in a teaspoon (or however much you want! Experiment with caution.) of cayenne pepper to your cream and massage into the desired area. But be careful to keep it away from your eyes! Pain relief is great, but, don’t go crying about it…
  • For headache relief, you can add drops of peppermint, lavender, tea tree, and eucalyptus essential oils to your mixture. Again, the concentration is up to you! Start with just a little and adjust from there — it goes a long way! Once mixed in, apply sparingly to your temples and at the nape of your neck. You should feel a cooling sensation that should bring headache relief quickly. It’s a simple and great way to help yourself.
  • For stress relief, try including lavender into your cream and massage it deeply into the stress knots or tight muscles. The smell is relaxing and should help you unwind. Speaking of unwinding, chamomile can be helpful for relaxing and getting you in the mood to sleep.
  • For anti-aging properties, you can use either Frankincense or Ylang-Ylang in your cream. Ylang-Ylang has more of a floral, botanical scent, while Frankincense is a deeper, more woody scent, so you can customize your cream’s scent to your own preferences. Just another fun way to mix everything up in your recipe.
